My Word of the Year Is Alignment. Doing More of What Matters

word of the year alignment

My word of the year is Alignment — and for me, this isn’t about slowing down or doing less.

On the contrary, I feel energized. I want to do more. More of what matters. More of what I intentionally planned. More of what actually moves me toward the life and goals I want.

Alignment means paying close attention to how I spend my time, what I agree to, and where my energy goes — so my actions consistently match my values and plans. Not perfectly, but intentionally.

Alignment Is About Focus, Not Mood

I recently heard a phrase that stuck with me:
“Fuck your mood. Follow the plan.”

And while it sounds intense, the meaning is grounded.

This isn’t about ignoring rest, pushing through burnout, or forcing productivity when the body clearly needs a pause. Instead, it’s about not letting temporary moods decide the direction of a life you’ve thoughtfully designed.

Some days, motivation shows up easily. Other days, it doesn’t. Alignment is choosing to stay consistent anyway — especially with the things you already decided matter.

Planned Life, Intentional Yeses (and No’s)

I planned my year with care. Therefore, alignment now looks like honoring that plan.

That means:

  • Saying no to distractions that don’t serve my priorities
  • Saying no to opportunities that pull me away from my focus, even if they sound exciting
  • Saying yes to the work, habits, and routines I chose on purpose

Alignment isn’t reactive. It’s proactive. It asks, “Does this support what I said I want?” If the answer is no, then the decision becomes clear.

Consistency Is the Real Goal

This year isn’t about intensity. It’s about consistency.

Showing up regularly. Doing the work I planned to do. Trusting that small, repeated actions compound over time. Alignment, in this sense, is discipline with direction — effort guided by intention.

In other words, I’m not chasing more for the sake of more. I’m building momentum around what actually matters to me.

Moving Forward in Alignment

Alignment is the bridge between vision and action. It’s how goals stop living only in planners and start showing up in real life.

This year, I’m choosing to follow the plan — not my mood — while still respecting rest, capacity, and sustainability. That balance is what makes alignment powerful.

Here’s to a year of focused energy, clear priorities, and consistent action — all in alignment.
